We are so thrilled that you can join us for our production of The Lion King.
0:08
I have to tell you, this is our 11th year with the Oak Knoll Lion King, and it is one
0:12
of the most spectacular events.
0:14
I've told many of you know, this is my favorite day.
0:17
The Lion King is my favorite thing.
0:18
I love everything about Oak Knoll.
0:20
It's absolutely the best.
0:21
I forgot to introduce myself.
0:22
I'm Alicia Payton Miyazaki.
0:23
I'm the principal of Oak Knoll.
0:25
With me, I have Kelly and Leslie.
0:27
They are our co-chairs.
0:28
This production cannot be run without amazing volunteers
0:31
who are doing a historic lift.
0:34
And so I thank them so much for all the time, effort,
0:37
and love that they put in, making every child feel seen
0:40
and honored for their work.
0:41
So thank you both so much.
0:46
The real thanks goes to the people who have dedicated
0:50
so much time and energy, countless hours,
0:53
to helping these third graders get the confidence.
0:56
and the skills to be on stage tonight
0:58
and perform in front of all of you.
1:01
So a huge, massive, massive thank you
1:03
to our music director from Oak Knoll, Rachel Knight,
1:07
our amazing Bill Harrison,
1:11
who is the drama director here at Hillview.
1:15
Huge thank you to him.
1:16
And he, I think, was the one that originally put on
1:19
the first Lion King.
1:21
And a huge, huge thank you to our choreographer, Becky.
1:24
are a round of applause for her and behind you guys there's
1:29
20 or so hillview av tech people who
1:33
are have been here since 8 a.m this morning busting their butts getting everything ready for
1:38
us and a huge thank you to jamie holmes who pulls all that together here at hillview
1:48
okay one more thank you which is we didn't do this alone we did this with the
1:52
partnership of so many incredible parents, Okanul is so fortunate to have a really involved
1:57
and dedicated parent group.
2:00
So there are too many people to thank, but just a few people who really went above and
2:04
beyond lending their time and talents, Tatiana Maracci, Morton Winther, the
2:10
Slatons, Alice
2:12
who did all the ticketing, I mean, just incredible work, so thank you all so much, and for
2:17
many
2:17
of you, hope you will volunteer in the years to come.
2:24
If you could just take this moment, please, to silence your cell phones and to turn off
2:28
your flash. You'd be amazed. From up here, you can absolutely see when someone's flash
2:33
is on. You can completely see if they just look at their screen. It's really distracting,
2:36
and we want our young stage members to feel completely right at home. Please
2:41
feel free
2:42
to record. It's set on your programs not to record. The wonderful and amazing Hillview
2:46
Broadcast Studio is recording for us, but please don't let us know.
2:48

2:52
so grateful for all their work but please feel free to record just don't

4:41
Thank you.
5:12
Welcome to our show! Today we will share with you our favorite story, one of a young lion
5:17
who becomes king. Now imagine, right here, the Great African Savannah, where a wise
5:22
old man -girl announces wonderful news.
5:41
We'll be right back.
6:10
Thank you.
8:51
To be continued...
9:08
I shall never be seen, and you shall not wait to see another SCAR!
9:13
You are being I didn't see out the presentation of Simba.
9:16
Oh, that was today? I feel simply awful. Must have slipped my mind.
9:21
As the key...
9:21
His brother, you should have been first in line.
9:24
I was first in line until that little hairball was born.
9:28
That hairball's my son, and you're a future king.
9:31
Oh, I shall practice my curtsy.
9:33
Don't turn your back on me, Scar.
9:35
Temper, temper.
9:37
I wouldn't dream of it.
9:38
What am I going to do with him?
9:40
Well, sire, he'd make a very handsome throw rug.
9:44
I do.
9:45
And just think, whenever he gets dirty, you can take him out and beat him.
9:50
Thank you.
10:40
We'll be right back.
10:46
That's where you're on our borders.
10:48
You must never know.
10:49
But I thought the king could do whatever he wants.
10:52
Well, there's a lot more to being king than going to your way all the time.
10:56
Dad, what are those birds over there?
10:57
They're buzzards.
10:58
They're scary. Why don't you take them away?
11:00
They're doing what they're supposed to do.
11:02
Everything exists in a delicate balance.
11:05
As king, you need to respect all creatures, from the crawling ant to the leaping antelope.
11:10
But dad, don't we eat the antelope?
11:12
Yes, but when we die, our bodies...
11:14
It's ready to become the grass, and the antelope feeds the grass.
11:17
Everything is connected in the great circle of life.
11:37
Hey, Uncle Star, guess what?
11:39
I'm going to be the king of pride rock.
11:41
Oh, good.
11:42
My dad just showed me the whole kingdom.
11:44
Really? Did he show you on that ride at the northern border?
11:48
Oh, no. He said I can't go there.
11:50
And he's absolutely right. It's far too dangerous.
11:53
Only the braves of lions go there.
11:55
Well, I'm brave.
11:56
An elephant graveyard is no place for a young prince.
11:59
An elephant what?
12:00
Oh, dear. I've said too much.
12:02
Just promise me you'll never visit that dreadful place.
12:05
No problem, Uncle Star.
12:07
There's a good lie. You run along now and have fun.
12:09
And remember, it's...
12:10
Are you kidding me?
12:25
You better not be an English lady, an elephant, a great guy.
12:30
Oh, just look.
12:31
Little sheets of romance blossoming in Savannah, and one day, you're going to be married.
12:38
I can't marry her.
12:39
She's my friend.
12:40
Yeah, it's pretty weird.
12:42
I'm sorry, the first year bubble, but it's a good thing going back to generations.
12:47
Well, when I'm saying that'll be the first thing to go.
12:49
Not too long as I'm around.
12:51
Well, in that case, you're fired.
13:13
I hope you enjoyed the video and sharing your video.
13:26
Bye.
15:15
All right, we lost him.
15:17
I am a genius, and genius was my idea.
15:31
Thank you.
16:07
We'll be leaving now.
16:09
Not so fast, dude.
16:10
How about some take-off?
16:12
Make mine a cup sandwich.
16:14
Chow down.
16:15
Heads or tails.
16:16
Yum, yum, yum, yum, yum.
16:20
That was it.
16:21
Come on, do it again.
16:26
Roar! Roar! Roar! Roar!
16:33
Simba, you deliberately disobeyed me.
16:35
Dad, I'm sorry. Let's go home.
16:42
I thought you were very brave.
16:47
Dad, that was a fox. I wouldn't be able to sit for a week.
16:51
Yeah, if it weren't for those pushy lines, we'd be running the joists.
16:54
Hee hee hee hee.
17:01
Shit, I don't know why I turned all that bad.
17:05
Oh, Scarlet, it's just you.
17:06
I'm surrounded by idiots.
17:08
I practically gift-drop those cubs to you.
17:11
Well, you know, Scarlet, it wasn't like Roy Zaki alone.
17:14
Yeah, what were we supposed to do?
17:16
Kill Mufasa?
17:19
Thank you.
18:18
We'll be right back.
20:18
Simba, I'm very disappointed.
20:20
You and Allah could have been killed.
20:21
I'm just trying to be brave.
20:23
Thank you.
20:23
I'm only brave when I have to be.
20:25
But you're not scared of anything.
20:27
I was today.
20:28
I thought I might lose you.
20:31
Dad, what?
20:32
We'll always be together, right?
20:34
Simba, go.
20:35
The great kings of the past have gathered us from no stars, so whenever you stay alone,
20:41
just remember. Those kings will always be there to guide you, and so will I.
21:11
It was a marvelous surprise to you.
21:14
I'll go get him.
21:15
Just stay here on the sled.
21:16
You wouldn't want to end up in another mess like you did with those hyenas.
21:20
You know about that.
21:21
Lucky daddy was there to save you.
21:23
So you might want to welcome up little boy.
21:25
Oh, okay.
21:27
Can't go far.
21:27
Will I like a surprise?
21:29
Simba, it's to die for you.
21:33
Roar, roar, roar, roar!
24:20
Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha.
24:23
Guys, it's a lion.
24:26
Aw, come on, look.
24:27
I'm so cute.
24:28
Oh, um, can we keep him?
24:29
Homer, are you nice?
24:30
You're talking about a lion.
24:32
Let's keep going with us.
24:33
You okay, kid?
24:35
I guess so.
24:37
So, where do you come?
24:38
Doesn't matter.
24:39
I can't go back.
24:40
Ah, you're a snow cat.
24:42
That's great.
24:42
So are we.
24:43
What did you do, kid?
24:44
Something terrible.
24:46
I don't want to talk about it.
24:48
Then you can see it.
24:49
Hakuna Matata.
24:53
It means no worries.
24:55
Hakuna Matata.
25:16
Thank you.
26:19
Oh, sorry.
27:01
We'll be right back.
27:09
Satisfying. I'm telling you, kids, it's the great life. No rules, no responsibilities, and best
27:14
of all, no worries.
27:16
Work for you. Enjoy. Okay, here it goes. I put a matata.
27:21
Let me get satisfied. That's it!
28:08
Thank you.
28:34
The lionesses are forced to do all the hunting.
28:37
While I'm eating a date born in their fair share,
28:40
scars bring up the cake with more and more and more of the plan.
28:43
But one particular lioness that surprise is to get help.
28:48
Shee! Shut up! Shee! Shee!
28:56
Nala, is that really you? Who are you?
28:59
It's me, Simba. Simba?
29:01
Simba? What are you doing here?
29:03
What are you doing here?
29:05
What's going on here?
29:06
Come on, Kupa, this is Alice.
29:08
She's my friend.
29:09
What? I can't ask you.
29:12
Relax, Simba.
29:13
I can't believe this. I don't think you're dead.
29:15
Is it still?
29:16
You're alive, and that means you're the king.
29:20
You got your line, girl.
29:23
Your majesty.
29:25
Maybe I was gonna be, but that was a long time ago.
29:27
Wait, Simba, I can't...
29:29
I can't speak to you.
29:31
I tell you, I'm like, that's it.
29:33
Oh, sorry.
29:35
Not you!
29:37
And I don't want to.
29:39
I don't want to.
29:43
What?
29:50
No!
29:57
Thank you.
32:45
Look, sometimes bad things happen, but there's nothing you can do about it, so why worry?
32:50
What's happened to you? You're not the same, I remember.
32:53
You're right, I'm not.
32:55
No, just disappointed.
32:57
You know you're beginning to sound like my father.
32:59
Good, at least one of us does.
33:00
She's wrong. I can't go back.
33:02
We'll improve anyway. We'll change anything.
33:07
Who are you?
33:16
I thought I did, and now I'm not so sure.
33:18
I know who you are.
33:19
No, father boy.
33:21
You're my father.
33:23
I know, father.
33:25
I hate to tell you this, but my father died a long time ago.
33:28
No, wrong again.
33:29
He's alive.
33:30
I'll show you.
33:31
Went down there into the water.
33:35
That's not my father.
33:36
That's just my reflection.
33:38
No, look high, dad.
34:09
Thank you.

He saw me with you!
36:32
He wasn't, but now I can't find him!
36:34
You won't find him here!
36:36
He doesn't care!
36:37
I can't believe it!
36:38
Who will come back to the pipeline?
37:00
Thank you.
38:05
